Thank you so much to everyone who came to the recent Australia Felix recitals in Melbourne and Perth. Ashley and I were thrilled to perform in our respective home cities to such warm and receptive audiences. Here is what The Age and Artshub had to say about the Melbourne concert. What a treat to be back home performing together after more than five years! We are already looking forward to many more performances in Australia and Europe in the coming seasons.
Now I am gearing up for two performances of Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 1 with the Melbourne Chamber Orchestra. Concerto playing has the potential to be either a rather isolating and artistically disappointing experience, or the most fulfilling and joyful one imaginable, and with the MCO it is definitely the latter. Playing with that incredible group of enthusiastic musicians makes concerto playing feel like highly intimate and refreshing chamber music, which is exactly how it should feel. Melbourne music lovers will be in for a real treat in a beautiful program including Bach’s Brandenburg 6 and Schubert’s sublime Symphony No. 5 in addition to the Beethoven concerto. Friends from interstate and abroad can catch the second concert on Monday September 2 streaming live on ABC Classic FM from 7pm EST. Hope you can tune in!
